i am really on the fence on this issue right now and would love some opinions.. i find that i dont sit down and read the bible for long periods since becoming inactive, but on the other hand, individual scriptures mean much more to me now.. i will sit down and look up some favorite passages from time to time and feel like its the first time i really "got it" - without the jw goggles on.
i love matthew chapter 23, since i think it describes to a tee the situation in jw congregations.
i think if jesus returned today, he would blast the elders and "leaders" of the borg in a similar fashion (along with most religious leaders) .matthew 24 is actually more interesting to me now, simply because my whole life was waiting for the 1914 generation to end sometime during the reagan era!

taking a quick peek back at some of his videos he put up on youtube, .
he really did a fantastic job in exposing how the watchtower organization operates, .
exposing its deceivingly decisive corruption.. which one in your opinion out of the many he put up was his pointedly best and why ?.
Definitely enjoyed that video. Food for thought. Thanks for posting!!

the weekly tms bible reading assignment is not read, or not carefully read, by most of the sheeples.
it doesn't really matter, because the consideration of the bible reading material is one of the shortest parts on the meeting with a limited number of comments, and those comments are restricted to less than 30 seconds or you will get counselled.
over and over, the dubs are told to read the bible, yet the organization gives no real encouragement to read the bible by keeping everyone busy in the recruiting work and using relatively few scriptures in their "talks".. why?
Billy the Ex-Bethelite said, "because the babies would babble while building."
LOL Try and say that ten times fast! I love it!
But seriously, are you trying to confuse me? Oh wait......I'm already confused about MANY things in the Bible.
Great thread!

they are causing mental problems by pushing and pushing the ones in to do more and more and more.. the dec 15th wt on page 7 says .
"you have a document that needs a certain person's attention by the end of the day.
you mare it urgent!
caliber This great increase of knowledge and the tremendous running to and fro of the people in various parts of the earth without question is a fulfillment of the prophecy testifying as to 'the time of the end'. These physical facts cannot be disputed and are sufficient to convince any reasonable mind that we have been in 'the time of the end' since 1799." (The Harp of God, p.234)
Let's see how long it's been "the time of the end." Currently the year 2010 minus "the time of the end" since 1799 = 211 years!!!!!
SHEESH!! Even Noah didn't have to wait that long for the worldwide flood!! It has certainly got to be "around the corner" TM !!

i was an anemic poster but avid reader of this forum back when it was jehovahs-witness.com.
i stopped a few years back due to certain circumstances in my life.
one good thing that benefited me is that i had a break from being an elder (which was awesome) but i foolishly gave in to peer pressure from my wife and others to accept re-appointment, i know what an idiot!
DISCLAIMER: XBEHERE This post is in no way meant to be condemnatory. It is to show others how the BS about the holy spirit being involved in re/appointments is exactly that...BS. I have "freedom of speech" (TM) in this regard because I am currenly still a servant in my hall yet posting regularly on this site.
Uh-oh! You were reappointed? Sounds like that darn holy spirit was fooled again!! The angels and holy spirit have observed your recent activity and have found you ABSOLUTELY worthy of reappointment! Congrats! LOL
What was your answer to the following questions from the elders, based on pg 35 of the new KS10 book (elder's manual)? (Assuming the answer was no, this solidifies the absenteeism of the holy spirit.)
"Is there anything from your past, even before baptism, or in your personal or family life that disqualifies you or that would prevent you from accepting this appointment? Is there any reason why your appointment should not be announced to the congregation?"
Lurkers - Appointments in the congregation have NOTHING to do with holy spirit. I'll tell it to you as one elder said to me recently about receiving privileges (TM) in the organization, "It's about being in the right place, at the right time."

true christianity = only jws.
genuine christians only jws.
jehovahs people = only jws.
"Unity Identifies True Worship"
Once again, with this title they state something as fact that is PURELY an assumption.
Alright, it's my turn. I want a shot at it. How about this? - 'Being Rich Brings True Happiness' or 'Owning an Apple iPhone Automatically Makes You Cool' or 'Wearing Earrings Identifies You as Gay' or 'Tattoos Identify You as Part of a Motorcycle Gang'
Get the point? NONE OF THESE ARE FACTS!! But you can believe any if not all, only if YOU want to. The WTS thrives on stating as fact things that they can't prove. Gotta love it.
Thanks again Blondie for a wonderful consideration as well as everyone else for their additional insight.

i know there are some of the "conscious class" on the board (i.e.
yknot, miseryloveselders,elderelite,etc...) do you guys still go in the field ministry?
and if so, what do you focus on?
Another one in the hypocrite class....
ME!!!
I still do go out in service. But instead of every Saturday, I've cut down to average about 2. I can say that I have cut back drastically because before this I was a regular pioneer and went out almost everyday and practically all day.
And I do the fake doorbell ring or the light knock. If I happen to come across someone at a door, I keep it VERY simple, like perhaps just presenting a tract. And I NEVER write down the persons info so I don't have any RV's.
What makes it hard is that even when I completely believed I still didn't care for the ministry. So it is more pain-staking now being out when I know it's nonsense. But it's all part of the plan folks. Question is, how long can I last?

this is a little bit of a rant but i need to vent.
so i apologize if some things aren't clear.
just ask and i will do my best to explain.. i'm really trying to be patient with my wife.
@ Billy the Ex-Bethelite - I completely agree. This is what I have been trying to do when I talk with my wife and exactly what I encourage my friend to do when he talks to his wife. No one likes to feel like they are being attacked. So when they can reach the right conclusion themselves rather than being forced, the results are often positive.
It's difficult once your own walls come down because you just want people to wake up, desperately. But patience truly is the best course. I can see a big difference in my wife as well as how our discussions turn out now. Thanks Billy the Ex-Bethelite.
somedays my dad would look at what i still call an older woman, and he'd call her attractive.
i'd look at him like dude your nuts.
i'm thinking just cuz your older doesn't mean its wrong to find younger women attractive.
YES!! Actually since my early 20's I always found a woman around 40 or so super-attractive. There was something about maturity in life that really stood out for me.
And let's not even get into a woman with a sexy, mature voice. I'm very happily married. But if I wasn't, IT'D BE ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!! LOL
Now I'm in my early 30's and I stil feel the same way. Except I see some women even in their 50's that are absolutely beautiful and precious.
And they got a job, real hair, and real fingernails, and don't give a dang about what others say! Das what I'm talkin' about now! HOLLA!!
